Information about CMM Inspection

CMM, is the abbreviation of coordinating-measuring machine.  It is a system that can efficiently obtain precise surface measurement data.  In other words, this equipment is designed for physical geometrical measuring on objects.  With either manual or computer controlled, the CMM inspection measuring can make the measurement process more precise and accurate than you think.   Cartoon_01

There are three major components of a CMM inspection: the structure includes three axes of motion, probing system and data collection as well as reduction system.

How does the measurement work?  Firstly, the touch probe is operated by the operators or the computer programmer to collect information on the surface.  Then, the X, Y and Z axes, which is designed to be orthogonal to each other, will compose a three dimensional system to show a new look of the surface.  After reading the result, the machine can determine the size and position according to the input information formed by the three coordinates.

The application of a CMM inspection is very wide. For example, it is often used for profile measurement, dimensional measurement, depth mapping, digitizing, imaging or shaft measurement.  With the growing changes on different demands, the CMM inspection system now is also designed as portable one to make the measuring research easier while the accuracy is not as good as the traditional one.
